A Test For Prostate Cancer

Uses Urine

A newly developed urine test may help to screen for prostate cancer. The test uses a new technology called polymerase chain reactions (PCR) to check urine samples for hypermethylation at a gene known as glutathione-S-transferase, since it has been found to be present in more than 90% of prostate cancers. Urine tests are already in use for screening for bladder and kidney cancer.
