Son Comments on Father's Use of Galavit

Hello Ralph Moss.

My name is Chris Dalambakis

I just read your article posted on AnnieAppleseed. It is quite good and you have obviously put a lot of time into it.

It would be great if your article was dated so that we knew when you wrote this. I’m presuming it was in the last year or two?

Ann's NOTE: This is our error - date added - October 2003

On the subject of Galavit, my father, Dr. Angelo Dalambakis (Retired Dentist) was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer in the summer of 1999.

My father lived for about 3 ˝ years with the diagnosed Kidney cancer, until December 2002. He started using Galavit about 18 months after diagnosis his cancer. This was after the Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer) metastasized to his lungs and liver, and after a second surgery to remove cancerous growths in his liver.

Now – I can tell you that my father, who read in his native language of English, as well as Russian, German and Greek – DID get a hold of many drug studies on Galavit from a pair of Dr’s in Nashville, TN who were administering the drug experimentally (and not inexpensively). My father read thru about 12” of paper before deciding to take Galavit.

I witnessed those studies in his possession with my own eyes, although I did not read them. I also had multiple phone discussions with a good friend’s relative who was being treated with Galavit by those same Dr’s in Nashville to get a better understanding of his experience and the cost.

My father imported Galavit with a Russian prescription every month for about $300 in inject-able and suppository form. I can tell you that my father believed that the inject-ables were more effective, for some reason, and gave himself the injections.

Did it work?

Well, at least from 1999-2002 – nothing then really did work for Kidney Cancer. My father was in / out of multiple experimental drug studies simultaneously to being on the Galavit, including Interferon Alpha2A w/retinoic acid. He was treated at Holy Cross and Cleveland Clinic in Southern Florida.

I can tell you this. The Oncologist told my father that his spreading / growing cancer had “stopped and stabilized” while he was taking the Galavit.

This all being said – my father quietly stopped taking Galavit around January 2002. I believe it was due to the $300 / month cost, even though he could afford it and even though I would have gladly paid for it. Perhaps he was also worried about taking it simultaneously with the experimental regimen that he had just started? We’ll never know why he stopped..

A few months after stopping the Galavit, the Cancer grew and spread aggressively. Months later we resumed Galavit, but alas, we believed that it was too late for the Galavit to “stabilize” the cancer one more time. My father passed away December 2002.

SO….

In the end – do I believe that there are valid studies out there on Galavit?

Absolutely.

Do I believe that Galavit worked to rev up my father’s immune system and keep the cancer at bay?

Absolutely.

More importantly – my father, Dr. Dalambakis believed that as well.

Here’s the kicker. My father always had a very very high PSA. It was getting worse as he was fighting the kidney cancer. In fact, there was a time that I was just as worried about his prostate as I was the kidney cancer. He had a physical in early 2002 and the nurse called with great alarm at how high his PSA was – and here my father was shocked at how much LESS his PSA reading was after taking Galavit. I’m sorry that I don’t have my father’s PSA results, but at the time he said that it was less than half what it had been running.

This makes me and my father believe that the Galavit actually somehow reduced his PSA by perhaps rev’ing up his immune system.

Is that crazy?

Maybe.

Anecdotal?

Of course.
