Patient Perspective on Raymond Chang, MD

The following email was sent to the Annie Appleseed Project in June, 2004

I am so pleased to read on your site that you are doing well. I am a colon cancer survivor in New York City. I just wanted to write to let you know about my experiences with Raymond Chang, as I see you have a link to him on your site.

I have visited Dr. Chang approximately 4 times since I was diagnosed with cancer in 2002.

Every time I have visited Dr. Chang, I have left the office in tears because, in my opinion, he was so insensitive to my situation and downright rude.

(I have just continued to go because he is on my insurance, so it is paid 100%). In my opinion, he is an extremely harsh practitioner, with absolutely no compassion or bedside manner. Not what I would have expected from a CAM practitioner.

Every time I have been there, he has rushed me in and out in about 10 minutes, and I always feel that he doesn't want to take the time to answer my questions.

The entire time I have been there, he stares at his computer screen, and does not look at me. In my opinion he tries to peddle the supplements that he sells, and is dismissive about what other doctors may say or prescribe.

Often times the directions that he has given me contain errors.

I will never visit him again.

I just wanted to pass this information along, because I think other people might want to know my opinion before going to see him, as he charges $275 per session (which lasts approximately 10 minutes).

Best regards, J
