SV40 positive cancers generally will not respond to cytotoxic therapies because the virus interrupts the apoptopic pathways (p53 and Rb). Yet, forty-five years after SV40 was discovered in polio vaccines and known to be disseminated to millions of people, our health authorities tell us that “more research” is still needed to determine if the virus is really causing cancer in people and no treatments consider the SV40 status of the patient’s tumor. Personal – my son’s brain tumor was caused by SV40. (Four out of four independent universities tested the tumor tissue and found it positive for the virus.)
