Nutrition

New articles on NUTRITION (studies, and more)

Looking at a single food, or nutrient, or worse, a single 'active element' of a food will NEVER be the answer. There is NO Magic bullet and it is the wrong direction for research to take. What makes a human being their healthiest is REAL food and vegetables. And stop using your microwave every day. One of the saddest differences between the conventional approach to nutrition and the integrative, holistic, natural...one is the use of meal replacement - 'nutrition' products, often sold by large pharmaceutical companies. I will never forget watching a friend who had a stomach feeding tube while in the hospital, receive artificially-vanilla flavored 'nutrient' drink. I could see from the label that it did not contain the best of the best! When I was in the hospital for the original cancer surgery, I had my mother go to the local health food store and bring me back fresh-squeezed juices.

Of course I was healthy (except for cancer diagnosis!) and not really under the hospital's full control.  (written by Ann Fonfa, founder, Annie Appleseed Project)

But the contents are mostly (if not all) synthetic and artificial versions of nutrients, what they have going for them is that are marketed and sold by pharmaceutical companies or companies that market to doctors.  Otherwise we cannot see their value!   We hear some people 'like' their taste (yes if you love sweetened drinks, it probably fits right in).

Sadly physicians and most conventional medical providers do not get much training in nutrition. Products like the one shown above are sold through pharmaceutical reps - we all know they have excellent access to the medical community (haven't you seen them in doctors' offices - they get right in while you wait!)

At the same time the medical community is taught that vegetables are full of bacteria and that fresh-squeezed juices might therefore be harmful.

But there are now a variety of products on the market that offer real nutrition - natural ingredients which studies show are more easily absorbed into the human body and the nucleus of all of our cells. The category known as green drinks can be very helpful, containing immune supportive herbs and powdered vegetables, fruits and more.

There are other items that may be helpful to immune support AND may help reduce or prevent the toxicities all too often caused by conventional therapies.
