In this section you will continue to find information on specific cancer types. Lots of articles, abstracts, etc. are stored in our Archive section as well - linked from and to each type of cancer covered. We'll try to bring in new information often. The basics stay the same. Eat more fruits and vegetables, get some exercise (move about at a minimum), relax a little every day, take some useful supplements like fish oil, curcumin and probiotics, and think about detoxing from exposure to the chemical soup that is our world.
We answer ALL emails.

Special note: New evidence now states that people can drink CLEAR liquids up to 2 hours before surgery. This goes for children as well. If your hospital is not up to date on this, tell them to look at this information Evidence-Based Child Health: A Cochrane Review Journal Volume 1, Issue 1 , Pages 166 - 280 May 2006 This was discussed in the New York Times Q&A Science section on November 28, 2011 confirming that it was safe for adults to drink CLEAR liquids (FYI milk is NOT a clear liquid).
An important announcement from 2007.
FDA News, December 2007:
New Safety Concerns On ESAs Prompt FDA To Consult ODAC
By Paul Goldberg
The Cancer Letter, volume 34, no 1
Two studies pointing to increased mortality and disease progression from erythropoiesis-stimulating agents will cause FDA to seek guidance from an advisory committee, the agency announced. Initially, the agency communicated its plans to the sponsors, who are obligated to share such development with the public (The Cancer Letter, Dec. 7, 2007).
Then, on Jan. 3, FDA issued a press release stating that the most recent studies amplify the safety concerns observed in six studies now listed on the ESA label. "Taken together, all eight studies show more rapid tumor growth or shortened survival when patients with breast, non-small cell lung, head and neck, lymphoid or cervical cancers received ESAs compared to patients who did not receive this treatment.
In all of these recent studies, ESAs were administered in an attempt to achieve a hemoglobin level of 12 g/dL or greater, although many patients did not reach that level," the agency said in a statement.
NOTE: A recent page produced by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) does NOT mention ESAs when talking about the "best ways to prevent infections" while undergoing chemotherapy. April 2012
