This study was conducted under the auspices of Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. Studies funded by a company with an interest in the outcome often find the information most desired by the company. This is true with pharmaceutical-funded research and is probably true with all.
However, since many fruits and vegetables (any that have been studied so far) offer benefits in fighting cancer and other diseases, there is NO reason to think cranberries would not offer benefits.
This research was done at the University of Western Ontario, Department of Biochemistry by Najla Guthrie et al.
What they found:
Mice that got cranberry juice and cranberry products had a "significantly lower number of breast cancer tumors compared with the control group, and the development of tumors was delayed"
Additionally, incidence of the spread of tumors to lungs and lymph nodes was very reduced in the group that got cranberries.
Cranberries ARE a rich source of flavinoids.
Ocean Spray is an agricultural cooperative owned by 750 cranberry growers and 150 citrus growers throughout the U.S. and Canada.
It is too bad they do not produce organic products.
