I am very appreciative of the successful efforts and implementation of the CAM conference offered through the Annie Appleseed Project on January 10-11, 2008 in West Palm Beach , Florida.
The information was invaluable to those with a experience of cancer, and especially to advocates like myself who want to empower and share evidence -based information with our local community members and participants. The breath of information covered CAM therapies for symptom management to general wellness approaches.
Information was also shared about methods in which to find CAM choices and consultations.
In my 10 years as a health advocate, this was the first conference I've ever attended where healthy organic meals were provided! Exceptional, great food with ingredients provided.
The highlights from the conference sessions for me were the updated nutritional facts especially regarding Vitamin D intake. George Wong's presentation on Traditional Chinese Medicine was easy to understand and increased my appreciation of acupuncture and current taste for gogi berries!
The session by Tim Birdsall helped define and identify "integrative" approaches as an option for total health and cancer treatment choices.
I hope that this will be the first of many Annie Appleseed Project CAM conferences and help to foster an increased interest in evidence-based CAM work.
Thank you sponsors for the generous gift which allowed me and others to attend this "first -of-it's -kind" CAM conference.
Sincerely,
