Poorer Breast Cancer Prognosis Among African-American And Younger
Women
[10/23/2001; Doctor's Guide]
Pathologically advanced tumours were found to be significantly
more common among African-American and young women with first
diagnosis of breast cancer who participated in the Carolina Breast
Cancer Study (CBCS).
These results are reported by investigators from the University
of North Carolina in Durham, North Carolina, United States; Queensland
University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia; and the University
of Oxford in Oxford, England.
"They also highlight the need for age and race to be considered
together when evaluating pathologic and biologic characteristics
of disease and when making inferences regarding tumor aggressiveness,"
the investigators report.
